Gilles Obermayer, LMT-NCBTMB
Gilles Obermayer started his career as a massage therapist while working at the Ballet Akademien in Stockholm Sweden
in 1997. He is a graduate of the Swedish Institute and the Ohashi Institute in New York City. Mr. Obermayer is licensed
as massage therapist in the state of NY and is nationally board certified. His continuing education includes
certification in advanced sports massage, advanced studies in tui na, orthopedic qi gong and the "treatment of trauma
with external herbal remedies" with the Zheng Gu Tui Na Chinese Medical Massage Program.
Mr. Obermayer specializes in the treatment of musculoskeletal imbalances using a holistic approach. He also has
experience working with clients who have undiagnosed psychosomatic issues induced by emotional imbalances.
Mr. Obermayer is an experienced bodyworker who maintains a private practice and works in corporate settings. He is
currently affiliated with the Sports Medicine Department at Columbia University, the Center for Health and Healing
at Beth Israel, Turning Point Acupuncture clinic and Fifth Street Acupuncture clinic. Additionally, he has been a
bodyworker at the Bates Dance Festival (2006-09), the Florida Dance Association Festival (2007-09), the College
Activities Office at Barnard College, the NYC 2008 Triathlon, and the NYC 2008 Marathon
